An update on Sleeve's compatibility with the macOS Tahoe betas

29th August 2025

With the release of Apple’s latest upgrade of macOS just around the corner (macOS Tahoe, or macOS 26), we wanted to let you know what’s happening with Sleeve.

For those already running the betas of Tahoe, you’ll know that our integration with Apple Music has been experiencing some issues. This is due to a bug in the latest version of Apple Music in macOS Tahoe. As it stands, Sleeve is unable to fetch the currently playing track when it’s not in your library, i.e. when the track is streaming, or playing from a station or radio.

This has actually happened before, with Apple unintentionally breaking this functionality in the betas of macOS Sequoia 15.4. It wasn’t fixed until the final public release of that update.

This issue has been filed with Apple, but we have no way to know when they’ll acknowledge it, or fix this issue in time for macOS Tahoe’s release in a few weeks.

We’re currently looking into alternative options to continue shipping Sleeve with Apple Music support, but there’s a high chance when you update to macOS Tahoe that Sleeve will be incompatible with Apple Music for a short period, unless Apple once again fixes this issue at the last moment. We’re doing everything we can to restore that compatibility and will update Sleeve and our community when we do so.

Thanks for being a customer of Sleeve and for your patience while we work on this issue — we get so many emails telling us how much you love Sleeve and we’re excited about continuing to improve Sleeve over the next year!
