Themes

Echo ships with over 390 terminal colour themes sourced from the Ghostty theme library. You can set different themes for light and dark mode, and switch between them at any time.

Choosing a theme

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Appearance
  3. Tap Theme under either the Light or Dark section
  4. Browse and select a theme to apply it

Echo maintains separate theme slots for light and dark appearance, so you can have a bright theme when in light mode and a darker one at night.

Appearance mode

In Settings, you can choose between Light, Dark, or System appearance. When set to System, Echo will follow your device's current appearance and switch themes automatically.

Theme tinting

By default, Echo tints the app's background and launch screen to match your selected theme's background colour. This creates a more immersive feel, but it can sometimes reduce contrast with lighter themes.

You can toggle this off in Settings → Appearance → Use Theme Tint if you prefer a neutral background.

Fonts and cursor

Echo includes three terminal font options:

  • Default (JetBrains Mono)
  • Roboto Mono
  • SF Mono

Font size can be adjusted from 10pt to 24pt in Settings, or by pinching to zoom in the terminal.

You can also choose your cursor shape — block, bar, or underline — and toggle cursor blinking on or off.
